This is a very common cheating method used in all forms of card games but especially in fast paced games with quick betting, 2 card brag is obviously one of these games and this simple technique is used to save a lot of money.

 

It's a very easy to do and uses simple distraction a technique, when you have been playing brag in the past this will probably have happened to you.

 

Pretending to Bet

In 3 card brag the betting is very fast and money is thrown in the pot at an alarming rate, this gives the opportunity to appear as though you are betting but can half your cost. More often than not the game will start using coins and an ashtray is placed on the table to put the money in. As the coins hit the ashtray and other coins it makes a loud noise or rattle.

 

When the bet is say £1 blind and £2 watch for a player moving their hand quickly towards the pot and throwing the bet in, if they are supposed to be betting £2 it's easy to throw £1 as the noise and speed distracts others from noticing anything. Same goes if it's 50p and my favorite is using coins to bet £5 and above, throw in £2 as if it were £5 or 4 for £10. No one even pays any attention!
